Butterfly Baby Shower

The Mogul is having a baby. The baker and I threw her a baby shower. The baker and I decorated the butterfly cake with white chocolate butterflies. It was super easy to do and looks quite effective. It is a super delicious orange almond cake from a planet cake book. The cupcakes are also from a planet cake book. I made up the teddy bear and the black cats. The baker is doing a chocolate course, so handmade chocolates were also on offer.

Height Charts

My parent's have a wall at their house that charts, it seems, every person's height that has ever visited. We draw straight on the wall and there are hundreds of names, ages and heights. We love it and each year the kidlets see how fast they are outgrowing each other and whether they are taller than auntie's, uncles and neighbours at the same age. We have both towering beans and short arses in our family so there are leaps and bounds with some and a slow crawl with others. I only wish that we had a wall chart that we could have used permanent marker on and could be washed every now and again. The wall is a little on the scuzzy side. These are the new height charts I've been working on. I'm thinking about a family one as well. I'm also thinking I'll make some pegs with blackboard on them for those that don't want to write directly onto the fabric and they can chart the heights this way.

Ice Skating Fifties Princess

I donned my coat today- whine, whinge. I'm hoping Winter blows in and out quickly this year. I'm over it already! I love ice skating, snow and Winter foods though, so I suppose it isn't all doom and gloom. Miss 8 put on the first, Disney on Ice, concert a couple of nights ago complete with blue sheet as the ice. She is off to Disney on Ice in a week, so we are in for many more performances leading up to the big day.

Bursts of Winter Colour

A bit of procrastination with the making of my spool holder above. My new circle scarves in second pic and my transport collage in the making.

Transport Buffs

I haven't done an illustration for ages. This is getting turned into a collage for those transport nuts out there. The winding freeways I thought would be an excellent way for little transport aficionados to follow and drift off to sleep.

RAFW - Love and Luck

I went to fashion week on Wednesday to hob-nob with the hob-nob. Twas fun, fun, fun. The most fun was had checking out what other people were wearing, the most impressive being the shoes. The mogul and her man's display was fab. So if you're off to fashion week check out their lawless and persia handbag collection. I have more pics that I will update after the market tomorrow. As I have been out with a broken foot, many of my intended plans and products are not going to happen for this market. I have managed to knock out some circle scarves, which I'm loving. Curious? Hopefully I'll have time tomorrow to photograph.

Rosemount Australian Fashion Week

Pics via my sister's site Love & Luck.

Exciting times for my sister the mogul and her man's label Love & Luck. They have been invited to RAFW this week. I'm so excited for them as it is the biggest event on the fashion calendar in Australia. My other sister, the baker and I have been invited. What to wear??? As a complete crafter with limited, 'sewn by me', clothes and currently sporting a broken foot from the easter celebrations, I'm a little stumped. I'm thinking my fav red surface art wrap dress with a jaunty hand-sewn fur boot over my half plaster. Thoughts??

The Royal Wedding

My sister, the mogul, bought my mum the 'Knit your own Royal Wedding' book a week or so ago. Mum managed to knit and post to the mogul, just in time for the wedding today. From left, Prince Harry - which apparently required the knitter to use pink wool for his delicate skin. He has a patch of ginger under the hat. Camilla - resplendent in old lady purple. Kate - in wedding dress sporting a beaded fluffy number. Wills, The Queen and one corgi. All the clothes can come off, ohh-errr. Kate also has another dress to change into. Thank god - because we all know that Harry will have them going all night long with his naughty ginger shenanigans.

Oh, I'm a sucker for a wedding. I love the pomp, circumstance and tradition, especially of the royal weddings. I've been watching various royal shows for the past few weeks. I'm such an old fart and have been exclusively watching SBS and ABC and learning all about King Christian the 9th of Denmark who is referred to as the father-in-law of Europe. Apparently the modern day royals can all be traced back to old King Christian. What a guy!!!

It's wedding fever in these parts. We have a night of celebrations planned. Although we only have one creepy Kate mask to share as someone misjudged when the Willy mask was coming out!!!! We have lots of delicious petits fours planned including the classy; butterfly cakes and the oh so royal caramel crowns. Miss 8 has downloaded the latest royal ipod app, where you can dress the royal family for the big day. The corgi even gets accessorises and you get to pick the song for the wedding march. We have even heard a rumour about a party going down where all the lovely ladies are going to be tuning into the telecast wearing their wedding dresses. Love it!! Have fun out there royal watchers! Enjoy the nuttiness for all it is - fun!
