To Market, To Market - A Beautiful Day

So the Olive Tree Market was on the 7th of March and for once the weather was beautiful. The markets have been plagued with terrible weather so it was a welcome relief. My new products at this market were my new tote bags, which I'm loving and toting around. Who knew short straps actually save your back and shoulders. For eons I've been carrying around a sling bag and it has been pulling my shoulder out in all different directions and voila short straps have solved my shoulder woes. An illustration I did a few posts back has been reincarnated as a print on bags, wrislets, skirts and pillows. Above it is shown on a little girl skirt. I'm loving this print and will probably find it's way on a quilt very soon.

And finally here is a quilt I finished way back and never had time to photograph it properly. It's made from panels intended for a soft fabric ABC book. I incorporated some chenille strips, blue linen and natural linen fabric patches with my little girly print. I think this would look fab both as a quilt on the bed or a playmat. I did the stitch in the ditch slack quilter method with log cabin joins at the corners. I must get around to making the mitred corners one day.

C'mon Kevin get those cheques out - toot sweet. It was a bit slow at the markets on Saturday. It was hot, but I think more than anything people are holding on to their money fearing an impending recession. Kevin (Our PM) has proposed a recession busting cash bonanza giveaway, but the money won't be coming out until March. Hopefully business will pick up after that. Anyway, I had a lovely day regardless of slow sales. I met the lovely Julia from rudy and the dodo and she bought some of my wares for her online shop, so go over here and check out some new items that aren't even on my madeit shop yet. Top pic is of my stall which I'm slowly perfecting and some other lovely lady crafters. My 6 year old niece came to the markets with me as she is a mad crafter and set up a table of questionable crafts and the lovely Natalie pictured 4th pic down bought one of her rock/softies. The Olive Tree Markets

Another succesful Olive Tree Market, yay for Justine, Bec and Ally - the star organisers. In the morning I was standing under my canopy with torrential rain pouring down, thinking, how am I going to pack all this up and voila cleared up and the sun even came out for part of the day. I'd just like to thank everyone for turning up, even the mad shoppers who came out in the early morning rain. This market is going to go from strength to strength with the support of all our loyal shoppers. Sydney peeps it's well worth the drive. A fab shop at The Olive Tree Markets is Rancho (Michelle) who makes beautiful glass pendants and prints and look what she kindly secretly made and gave to me (see above). It's made from my bloggy header. I wore it all day and felt so special. Thanks once again Michelle.

Yay for the Olive Tree Markets. What a great day! Finally a decent market in Newcastle. I couldn't believe the turn out and best of all sales!!!!! I took chairs to sit in, but hardly had a chance to sit until the end of the day. Naomi was the star seller of the day. Everytime I went to cruise the other stalls she would sell something, which was a bit fun to check the increasing sales figures everytime I came back. Now I have to burn rubber on the Janome for this weekend as I'm doing the Darby Street Festival with the lovely Susi from Three Little Birds.
