Prawn Themed Christmas
Down south we sometimes enjoy different Christmas fare to you northerners. Because it is stinking hot on Christmas Day, prawns are a popular Christmas treat in Australia. The last two Christmases, however, we have had super crap weather so we had turkey and the whole hot lunch biz. This year, with optimism, we're doing prawns. Having prawns though involves big time organisation. Someone is nominated from the family and said person has to battle the big prawn line up. On Christmas Eve said sucker/person has to get up early and join the line for the big prawn. It's often a push and shove affair, but having prawns on Christmas Day is all worth it. So in honour of the prawn pilgrimage that many Aussies will be going on this year, I designed our families Christmas card with a prawn theme. Hmmm tasty I know... I bet you there are no other prawn themed Christmas cards out there. I'm sure the rellies in receipt of prawn cards will no doubt add another stroke to the, gee she's a weirdo file, but I likey.

oh i remember the christmas 2 years ago...horrid...it decided to pour down in a side ways direction and my poor husband was the only one out in it to cook the barbie...
love prawns it's so christmas lunch...unfortunatly it is now too far to do the great prawn grab...it's cold ham and salad or we could risk another barbie...
oh in my last comment i should have said VW beetle..
really nice design and it still looks so festive
Not jealous of your nice warm weather - really I'm not!
Makes more sense to me than giving a card covered in snowflakes! Love the design.
I ordered prawns this week. I was going to order 5kg because it's a big family do. The thought of shelling that many made me near woosy, but I love prawns and so does my extended family and it's my Christmas gift to all. But at $30 a kilo for Queensland tigers I thought better of it and scaled down to 4kgs. Crikey. I have been trying to source some local prawns but am unsure of the quality and frankly they're about the same price. OMG!
Cheers, rub it in why don't you? We have frozen prawns with ketchup and salad cream mixed together for tea on Christmas day. um, I say WE...that's a mother in law tradition, you know the kind...pale pink, taste of fishy water, kind of too squishy. NICE. Jealous, aren't you? Oh, and obviously they are shipped over from lordy knows where. I'll do the prawn grab if it means I can come stay with you for Chrimbo?
