Houses Fabric Print

It has been screen printing week around here. This is my new print which has been printed up today. I love it. I've printed it on my lovely new linen. I'll try to photograph all my new stuff in the next few days.

Voila - Finger Puppet Theatres!!!

Voila, here are the new finger puppet theatres. I had so much fun making them. I used the drawing fluid and blocking fluid technique when making the screen. I may have to do a tutorial on this. The drawing fluid is so easy to apply and is less mucking around than the photo emulsion. The puppet theatres have that handmade and hand drawn look I was after. The puppet theatres retail for $60.

Screenprinting Made Easy

Here is my first screen I made. I've since reclaimed it as I perfected my exposure technique and exposed this screen again.(see above print on skirt) It still printed quite well though. (see below)
I finished the screen printing course a couple of weeks ago now and have been drawing and printing ever since - hence the blogging break to create. The course was so fantastic and I would highly recommend it to any person wanting to D.I.Y. their own designs onto fabric. The course covered everything you need to know from creating your own screens using photo emulsion, exposing your screens in the sun using vacuum bags and clever tricks when printing. It was a full day course and the lovely Shivaun could not have been more helpful. So if you're interested go and visit Shivaun and her brother Amon who run a tip top operation in Sydney's inner west. My first screen turned out a little patchy as I accidently flipped it to the wrong side when I went to expose it. I've made a few mistakes along the way, but now I've got it sussed. I'm totally addicted and rabbit on to anyone about my exciting progress in the world of screen printing, whether they are interested or not - sorry about that friends.

Postage Stamp Colour Play

How cool would it be to design stamps? In my books - the coolest. I was an avid stamp collector as a kid and used to pore over all the little details of the stamp. I loved all the overseas stamps with their different money symbols. I wished I'd kept up with collecting, but alas the barbie took their place. I designed this group of stamps with screenprinting in mind. Oh, the excitement. I'm off to do my screenprinting course this weekend. I thought I'd go a bit nuts with colour on these and had a great time experimenting. I'll show and tell on Monday all about my adventures doing photo emulsion screenprinting.
